This Wisconsin family anticipated for a calm day on the water when they went fishing. But little did they realize that at the end of the day, they’d all be crowned heroes for saving a baby bear’s life.

On the Marsh-Miller Lake, Brian Hurt, his wife Tricia, and their son Brady were fishing when they noticed something exceptionally large struggling to swim along the beaches.

They approached it right away to examine and couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw it was a big bear in serious need of assistance. The unfortunate creature’s head was jammed in a plastic container, and he was barely able to keep it floating.

The sailors realized they needed to act quickly since the bear would have drowned otherwise. As a result, they risked their lives to save the vulnerable animal.

“I’m very confident he wouldn’t have made it to shore,” Tricia told CNN. “We realized we had to take action. “I was huffing and puffing like a maniac.”

The Hurts approached the befuddled bear stealthily, and when they were near enough, Brian wrapped his hands around the plastic jar from the bear’s head and yanked it off.

However, releasing the bear totally needed a second try. When he was finally free, the unfortunate bear began swimming to the shoreline, much to the delight of his family!

Brian’s wife captured the emotional moment on film, which she later published on Facebook. It got viral in no time! “We were ecstatic,” she explained.

“We completed our daily good deed…and it felt nice to assist the unfortunate bear.” You don’t want to watch animals in pain. We wanted to make sure everyone knew the bear was fine.”
