Joey may have been born with a disability, but that has never stopped him.
Vintage Pet Rescue’s 3-month-old Chihuahua wants to do everything his foster siblings and sisters do. He still runs circles around the other dogs despite not having front legs.
“Joey is one of the happiest dogs we have ever met,” Kristen Peralta, founder of Vintage Pet Rescue, told The Dodo. “He doesn’t know that he’s different, and he absolutely loves playing with toys, wrestling with the other dogs, enjoying his splash pad and getting cuddles.”
Joey is never satisfied with half-measures, whether he’s playing or resting. When the puppy has expended all of his energy, he finds out the coziest spot in the home and falls asleep among his stuffed animals. He loves sleeping with a Lamb Chop toy that is exactly his size.
“He’s still a puppy,” Peralta said, “so he’ll play hard and then slumber hard.” “Joey enjoys curling up with his teddy animals and taking a lengthy snooze… He adores his playthings!”
Joey was surrendered to the Connecticut Humane Society before being adopted by Vintage Pet Rescue, a group that specializes on elderly and special needs canines. Peralta’s major objective is to make Joey feel at ease and secure at all times. That is, assuming she is successful in catching him.
“Joey can pretty much get everywhere he wants to go by hopping upstairs, hopping up on the sofa,” Peralta added. “Seeing him go about so well is fantastic.” He is unstoppable.”
Joey will be ready for adoption after being neutered and fitted for a personalized wheelchair at Eddie’s Wheels for Pets. Peralta believes that, despite his unusual appearance, Joey’s exuberant, party-loving personality will swiftly earn him a loving home.
“We expect hundreds of applications for him,” Peralta said. “But Joey is the only one!”
