A Woman Befriends A Little Snake That Lives In Her Screen Door

One day, while hanging out by his screen door, Bootsy the cat observed a snake in need of assistance and instantly notified his mother. She discovered the snake was caught in a hole in the screen door and couldn’t get out, so she took a drill and slowly began to enlarge the hole so the snake, subsequently named Snickers, could escape.

“With a drill, it just took a few minutes, but it took Snickers approximately 30 minutes to feel comfortable enough to try to leave the larger hole,” Bootsy’s mother, Melisa Taylor, told The Dodo.

Snickers slithered away and Taylor didn’t think much of it — until he came back again.

“Surprisingly, he was back within the next day or so,” Taylor said. “My cat spotted it again poking out of the hole and looking in the window.”

Taylor wanted to make sure Snickers was safe when she discovered he had taken up residence in her screen door. The most reasonable next step was to put up signs to let everyone know that this was his house and that they should not bother him.

Several signs now hang from the roof of Snickers’ house. They’re supposed to be ridiculous and enjoyable, and everyone who’s seen them has found them to be such.

“The majority of them laugh or think it’s adorable and innocent,” Taylor added. “I’ve gotten a lot of praise for saving it from the minor hole.”

Taylor doesn’t see Snickers every day, but whenever she does, she’s always so happy to see him. Even when she doesn’t spot him, she loves just knowing that he’s there. He’s a valued member of the family now.

“It keeps the deadly snakes out of my yard, which I appreciate,” Taylor said.
