Darren Sheer and his family recently came face to face with a charmingly brave local while on a guided sightseeing tour of a South African game preserve.
It was a young rhino, but he more than made up for his diminutive stature with bravado.
Everything started when the car the Sheers were traveling in came upon a mother rhino and her calf in the road in front of them. The bystanders were content to admire those magnificent beasts from a distance, but the small rhino had other ideas.
The tiny boy bravely broke away from his mother and began to go towards the others. He continued to do it, demonstrating just how frightful and resilient he truly is.
It had a somewhat different impact on the Sheers: “This was very touching,” Darren told The Dodo.

The baby was acting like a rough man, but his mother never once appeared too worried. She has undoubtedly witnessed him attempt this prank before. For the Sheers, though, it was a genuinely amazing sight.
The rhino baby was with his family, and I was with my family, said Darren. It served as a reminder to cherish our own family’s special moments. They are only memorable extraordinary occasions.
