The firemen that combat the flames in California are not only brave, but also kind. So when two firemen stumbled upon a weary couple of donkeys, they hurried to aid the unfortunate creatures, demonstrating that there is always hope when there is love!
Fire chief Gary Loesch and firefighter Chris Harvey, from the Sacramento Fire Department, were on their way to remove a fallen tree from a road in Paradise, California.
They were driving through an area that was badly affected by the devastating wildfires, so they didn’t expect to encounter anything but ashes. But, then they spotted something coming from the smoke. There were two donkeys desperately trying to find their way to safety.
The firefighters came to a halt and approached the poor animals to see how they were doing. They had clearly gone through a lot, and they were in desperate need of water and nourishment. As a result, the rescuers generously shared their water and meal with the two donkeys.
“We pulled over to let them pass,” firefighter Harvey told The Dodo, “and observed that they appeared really fatigued, worn out, and thirsty.” “I attempted to give them water from a water bottle in my hand, but it kept leaking out.” Then we handed them apples, which they swiftly devoured and appeared appreciative for.”
After providing them with water and apples, the firefighters contacted Animal Control and informed them of the donkeys’ presence. They didn’t leave, though; instead, they stayed with them and consoled them until animal control police came. “We phoned base camp and had animal control personnel go to rescue the donkeys,” said firefighter Harvey.
With such great and loving firemen as Harvey and Loesch dedicated to saving every life, no one is left behind!
