A stork demonstrates to the world that humans have much to learn from animals in an astonishing demonstration of devotion and compassion. It all began in 1993, when Klepetan’s companion, Malena, was injured when she was struck by a hunter. Stjepan Vokin, a schoolteacher from Slavonsky Brod, a tiny Croatian hamlet, discovered the bird resting in the dirt.

The good-hearted man repaired its wing and looked after her. He even constructed a nest for her on his roof. It had been there since Klepetan first saw her 20 years ago. Since then, the couple’s extraordinary love tale has perplexed the globe.

Klepetan spends the winters in South Africa, while his sweetheart is cozy in her caretaker’s house. The bird is already a member of the family, according to the teacher. However, residents – and, more lately, a large online community – have been anticipating Klepetan’s comeback since 2001. And the faithful stork has never let them down in over two decades.

Every season, the pair bring up chicks and after they raise them together, the male is teaching the to fly, and then he’s leading them to South Africa, during the winters.

The villagers are ecstatic about their renowned lovebird, and they’re eagerly looking forward to Klepetan’s return in early March. So far, the oldest live stork has been reported at 39 years old. Locals, on the other hand, are hopeful that this particular friendship will last much longer.
