Dilly had no where to go. The black and white dog in Houston, Texas, was terrified of humans and was walking by herself. She cautiously wove in and out of traffic. She constantly made her presence known, yet she was frequently reluctant to approach too closely.

Dilly need some time to feel at ease in social situations. Fortunately, canine rescuer Kristin Erwin had endless time on her hands.

According to Erwin, “I instantly recognized that this was an extremely frightened dog.” “The moment you expressed interest in her, she booked it and left. No amount of attention or attempts to stop her worked.

Erwin patiently waited until Dilly felt ready to approach one of Erwin’s traps. Once safe inside, Erwin took Dilly home and began the slow process of acclimating the anxious pup to life in a home.

Erwin made a video about Dilly’s journey, which you can watch here:

“I gave Dilly her very own room,” Erwin said. “The first couple days I left her completely alone, then I started spending a few minutes in there throughout the day, either just talking to her softly or hand feeding her.

She had the cutest little lips and underbite. I remember it was day 10 when I got my first tail wag out of her.”

After being in Erwin’s care for a month, Dilly eventually worked up the courage to leave her room by herself. Dilly rapidly grew used to all the amenities the mansion had to offer after she understood she had nothing to be scared of.

Erwin remarked, “She eventually wandered down the hallway on her own and saw what the living room was all about. “The rest was history after she discovered the couch. I recall that we even made her feeding bowl look like a princess by placing it on the couch.

Erwin grew close to the quirky pup, and she found her resilience and tenacity so inspiring.

“I really enjoy watching a dog’s transformation, but when it’s from a fearful, shut down, dog to a relaxed, ‘enjoying life again’ dog, it’s everything!” Erwin said. “Once she let her guard down, she was a whole new dog.”

Dilly had gained confidence at last, but she now need a stable household. Unbeknownst to Dilly or Erwin, someone had been stalking Erwin’s Instagram postings and developing a gradual romantic interest in the once-nervous dog. Even though she hadn’t seen Dilly in person, Erwin’s old high school acquaintance made her feel instantly attracted to her.

Erwin said, “I was so happy that Dilly may be rehomed to someone close.

Dilly made the adjustment to her permanent residence gradually. Dilly is now safe and comfortable with her new family, doing everything she loves.

Erwin said that Daisy got along well with her family. She became fast friends with their pets and the mother’s small boy. She sleeps in their bed while they go out for puppuccinos at Starbucks and take walks around the neighborhood. Now she has everything. Most significantly, despite the fact that she is still a little weird, she has a family who loves her without conditions.
