After her owners chose to give up on her, a loving pittie was given a second shot. She was tied to a tree in the center of a Brooklyn park, next to a letter. Thankfully, a caring somebody saw the dog in time and saved her!

Eric Maus, a 28-year-old Prospect Lefferts Gardens resident, was walking two dogs he was caring for through the park when he came upon Mamas, a 7-year-old pit bull tied to a tree. Eric sought for the dog’s owners at first, but there was no one present. When he came closer, he noticed a message hung from the tree, which shocked him. The dog was as nice and lovely as she was big, so it was a win-win situation.

“I was walking Gouda and Lily through the park, when I saw this really big, chubby pit bull tied to the tree,” Eric explained for The Dodo. “I looked around and I called out to her, ‘Hey, where’s your owner?’ She was being so sweet and so gentle. She was just laying there, tongue out, so cute.”

Eric learnt her name was Mamas and she was 7 years old from the note he found next to the dog, which also included the words “Take me home.” I’m a fantastic dog. Don’t be put off by my size. “I’m a kind guy.” It was at this point that Eric recognized he had come upon an abandoned puppy and needed to do something, but he didn’t know where to begin. Regardless, he made the decision to assist Mamas.

Inspired, Eric grabbed a couple of photos of the dog and shared them with his neighbors on a Facebook group. Thankfully, within minutes, one of them rushed to help Eric. So they have taken Mamas to Sean Casey Animal Rescue – a shelter in Windsor Terrace.

“I didn’t know what to do,” the sweet young guy explained, “but I wanted to assist her.” “A dog shouldn’t be left alone in the park, especially if it’s attached to a metal chain.” I felt compelled to take action.”

Mamas appeared very joyful when she arrived at the rescue facility, despite the fact that she was dehydrated. She just had the feeling she was in excellent hands, and she was relieved to be out of the park. Mamas will be ready for adoption once she has passed all of her medical testing. Eric, the guy who rescued her, wishes for her to find a loving family that would accept her as she is.

He described her as “a complete sweetie with large brown doe-y eyes.” “She’s just a happy dog,” said the owner.
