Little Dog Decides To Live In Carved Pumpkin After Jumping In It

Although pumpkins may be roasted, carved, and decorated, one tiny dog has found a completely new purpose for the gourd: a house.

Huxley, a 5-pound Pomeranian puppy, enjoys every moment of life.

According to Eugenia Chen, Huxley’s mother, “He’s the most gregarious, lively, joyous little child that I’ve ever encountered.”

Huxley and his family enjoy playing together at home when they aren’t out and about in the community. The little dog generally spends all of his time chasing tennis balls and puzzle toys, but Chen decided to try something different this year. She then made the decision to carve him a pumpkin that was the size of Huxley.

Chen wasn’t sure how Huxley would react to the pumpkin when she first brought it home. Halloween season was in full swing, and at the very least, she hoped he’d tolerate it enough to snap a picture next to it.

Chen carved a large opening at the top of the pumpkin and removed all of the gooey insides. She tilted the empty pumpkin towards Huxley, thinking he’d like to take a sniff at the life-sized gourd. But his reaction shocked her.

“To my surprise, he dove right in!” Chen said.

Huxley jumped inside the pumpkin and curled up into a ball without missing a beat. He looked around the interior of the pumpkin for a moment before understanding that his new toy was delectable and edible.

He found out that he had won the grand prize: a home built of food! Wang stated. He enjoys eating veggies and opening boxes, which may explain why he enjoys crawling into pumpkins.

Here, you can see Huxley investigating his first pumpkin:

After a few nibbles around the inside, Huxley proudly poked his head up, revealing a giant smile on his face. He sat in the pumpkin for a while, looking at his parents, who were now attempting to coax him out.

But he refused to budge.

After a few minutes, Chen started to worry that Huxley might not be able to get out of the pumpkin. She grabbed a trusty bag of treats to try to lure the happy pup out, and to her surprise, he popped out as easily as he’d jumped in.

“I was nervous that the pumpkin would be hard for him to move comfortably, but he was happy to stay inside,” Chen said.

Huxley spent the remainder of the evening playing with (and devouring) his new pumpkin toy, which cemented his newfound fascination with the enormous squash. Despite the fact that Halloween has long since passed, he still adores gourds.

With the knowledge that pumpkins are wonderful, Huxley has become more confident and still enjoys them, according to Chen. “We picked up a few more pumpkins, and he was content to gnaw on the top and the inside.”

Huxley’s parents will continue to establish fresh customs and come up with inventive ways to celebrate with their adorable dog as the seasons change. However, they’ll always be anticipating the next year so they can choose a new pumpkin as a family and watch Huxley enjoy yet another incredible edible house.
