When you have a baby donkey, you must know how to properly care for it. Because the birth of a donkey foal is usually a short procedure, it is critical to be prepared ahead of time. The foal should be kept in a warm, dry, and wind-free environment.
It’s best to have a clean, loose box with clean bedding. Before housing the foal, the box should have been vacant for at least two weeks and there should be no signs of gastrointestinal disease in the vicinity.
The box, as well as any other equipment, should be cleaned, disinfected, and/or sterilized before use. Anyone who enters the box should take the required care for hygiene, especially during the first 72 hours.
Make sure the foal gets regular exercise, especially as it gets older and stronger. As milk contains very little vitamin D, the foal should be allowed outside regularly in the sunlight. Donkeys exposed to sunlight for at least three hours a day can produce their own vitamin D, which is essential for proper bone development
Donkeys are highly friendly creatures who constantly crave attention, particularly when they are young. It’s critical for them to receive the affection they require, whether from their mother or from humans. A donkey will stand and be patted or groomed all day. They’re similar to Golden Retrievers in this regard. They have a lot of affection for one another.
Donkeys are quite playful, and they make excellent friends with other donkeys and horses. Balls, traffic cones, and hoodies are all fair game. They’re adorable, and you’ll most likely want one for yourself.
