Rescue Dog Is Patiently Waiting By Her Bed For Her Father To Tuck Her In Every Night

An anxious dog named Bailey has had difficulty sleeping through the night.

However, the rescue dog has been sleeping like a baby since since her dad, Mac Clenney, began covering her up like a burrito during their romantic evening routine.

“Whenever we would snuggle with blankets on the couch, Bailey felt much more comfortable and calmer whenever she was wrapped or covered with a blanket,” Clenney told The Dodo.

The bond between Bailey and her dad, however, didn’t happen right away.

Clenney and his wife adopted Bailey from Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue in 2020, and quickly realized the young pup had some fears to overcome.

“When we met with her wonderful foster mom, she told us that Bailey [was] one of the most scared and timid dogs [she’d] ever come across,” Clenney said.

Clenney fell in love with Bailey and tried to calm her fears by working with a canine behaviorist, but it wasn’t simple.

Every time I entered the living room, “she would jump off the back of the couch and flee,” Clenney recalled. Before she felt comfortable with me even contacting her, it took her more than six months.

The peaceful tuck-in routine that Bailey now looks forward to every night was eventually created by Clenney when Bailey eventually gained the trust of her new family.

Clenney recalled, “We once did that as a little goodnight joke, and when she nestled into it, we decided to leave her. “We started doing it every night after discovering she was still tucked in when [we] got up the next morning.”

A “diva” orange tabby cat named Penny, owned by Clenney and his wife, has also formed a unique bond with Bailey.

“While cuddling, Penny will use her tail to torment Bailey. Every time Penny gets the zoomies, Bailey acts like she wants to pursue her, but she is aware that she has little chance of succeeding, according to Clenney.

Although Bailey was saved, her parents learned a very valuable lesson from the once-fearful dog.

“It took months and years of patience and understanding to get through to her and show her a nicer world,” Clenney added. She is currently accompanying us to parks, shops, and breweries. She is evolving into her finest selves.
