We all know Great Danes can grow to be enormous dogs, but this one recently broke the record and became the world’s tallest living dog. Meet Zeus, the world’s tallest dog, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Zeus is a two-year-old American Great Dane, who lives in Bedford, Texas, with his mom Brittany Davis. Ever since he was a puppy, this gentle giant caught all the eyes as being the biggest dog from a litter of five. Now, he stands 3 feet and 5.18 inches which makes him the tallest living male dog in the world.

Not just for Zeus, but also for his adoring owner, the title is a dream come true. Brittany has always desired a Great Dane as a pet, and she finally has the best of them!

“Even for a puppy, he’s been a large dog since we acquired him,” the young woman told Guinness World Records. “He had enormous paws!”

Although sharing the house with the tallest dog is difficult, Brittany said she has gotten used to it, but he feels more like a human than a dog. Zeus, on the other hand, despite his height of over three feet, is as gentle as a little puppy.

“His water bowl is a sink, and he loves to jump onto the fence and talk to the neighbour’s dogs next door,” the owner explained. “He likes to steal the baby’s pacifier off the counters and any food left on the counters is definitely free reign for him.”

But Zeus isn’t just gentle, but also very friendly; and he loves to make friends with everyone, including humans or other animals. At home, he has three others mini Australian Shepherds as companions and a kitten named Penelope. He also loves spending time with the family’s newest member – Brittany’s newborn baby!

The world’s tallest dog eats a lot of food on a daily basis. Every day, he consumes twelve cups of “Gentle Giants” large breed dog food. But he also takes a lot of walks as part of his regimen. Zeus spends his time in the backyard or at a nearby farm, where he is treated like a celebrity. When people see this big dog, they naturally tilt their heads around.

“We get a lot of remarks like ‘Wow, that’s the tallest dog I’ve ever seen,’ so it’s nice to be able to respond ‘Yes, that’s absolutely the tallest dog you’ve ever seen!”
According to Zeus’s owner. Brittany, on the other hand, confesses she had no idea her dog would grow to be that tall. “We never imagined we’d be the owners of the world’s largest live dog,” she said.

Whether by coincidence or not, the world’s tallest dog, according to Guinness World Records, was also named Zeus and was a Great Dane. He stood 44 inches tall and unfortunately died in 2014.
