A wildlife photographer recently perplexed his followers after sharing a couple of gorgeous photos on Instagram. Photographer Mithun H defines his piece of art as “The Eternal Couple.

” It depicts an unusual leopard-black panther duo posing for a once-in-a-lifetime photograph.

The magnificent animals were discovered in the jungles of Kabini, Karnataka, India.

The renowned photographer has been following the two felines for almost four years, and while he has captured some stunning images of each of them separately, this is the first time Cleopatra the leopard and Saaya the black panther has been seen together.

“Saaya and Cleopatra have been courting for 4 years now and whenever they are together it’s a sight to behold,” the photographer wrote on Instagram.

“The forest comes alive as they trot nonchalantly in his fabled kingdom. Usually in the courting pairs generally it is the Male who takes charge and moves around with the female following close behind. But with this couple, it was definitely Cleo who was in charge while the Panther followed. This was shot on a surreal winter morning when a single Deer alarm led me to this breathtaking sight.”

But, because capturing such a sight could not have been simple, Mithun revealed he had waited six days to photograph this magnificent couple. “I had to wait six days in the same position since I could hear the Panther and Cleopatra mating approximately 100 meters away in the dense foliage but couldn’t see them because to poor sight,” he explained to The Indian Express.

“All I had to do was wait at one of his favorite trails since there was where he would grab her because it was the edge of his domain, which he did after six days.”

Recalling the moment, the enthusiastic photographer said he can “relive that moment every single day of his life. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
