Miles’ family was devastated when he went away for the first time. He slipped through an open door, and despite their best efforts, his family was unable to locate him. Miles is a senior dog with impaired vision, so his family feared the worst after he had been missing for six weeks.

Miles, on the other hand, was microchipped and located by some good Samaritans, who took him to the Fulton County Animal Services shelter, which is run by LifeLine Animal Project.

The shelter examined him for a microchip and then notified his family, who were completely taken aback by the news. It was the call they’d been waiting for and worried may never arrive, and they were overjoyed when it did.

“When his owner was notified Miles had been recovered and were at the shelter within 30 minutes, she broke down weeping,” Lauren Ruiz, a PR consultant at LifeLine Animal Project, told.

No one knows how Miles managed to survive on his own for six weeks, but he is certainly a tough little dog. He was filthy and in severe need of a wash and grooming, but none of that mattered when his mother came to fetch him home from the shelter.

“When she was reunited with Miles, she was ecstatic and tearful,” Ruiz added. “Despite being afraid and horrified by his separation, Miles clearly calmed and became quickly at ease as he knew he was back in his family’s arms.”

Miles had been puzzled and terrified when he arrived at the shelter, but everything was fine once he was back in his mother’s arms. Their relationship was stronger than ever after six weeks apart.

Miles is finally reunited with his family, where he belongs, thanks to an up-to-date microchip and the aid of the community. He’s been through a lot, but everyone believes that with a little rest, love, and care, he’ll be back to his old self in no time.
