An enormous grizzly bear is attempting to steal a mother moose’s newborn calf, but the mother appears unfazed and isn’t giving up. To protect her child, she has been pursuing the beast. The grizzly made his first effort a few days ago, and this is his best try.
The dramatic moment unfolded in the Glacier National Park, Montana, and it was captured on camera by some employees of a hotel nearby. The staff were making the last preparations for the hotel’s opening on June 3rd, when they noticed the wildlife drama from a balcony.
In a number of videos, the fearless mother moose is shown pursuing the bear away from her vulnerable young while crossing a road and a body of water. Here’s a video showing the fearless mother moose chasing the grizzly bear down a road, under the eyes of the hotel’s employees, who can’t help but record the dramatic scene from the balcony!
The hotel workers said that the hungry bear had already snatched one of the young calves and carried it into the woods before coming back for the second one. The mother is frantically pursuing the beast this time because she is trying to keep it away.
The bear has returned twice since then in search of it, according to hotel employee Joshua Camareno, who spoke with FTW Outdoors!
A second clip captures the grizzly bear approaching a mother moose and her youngster while they are relaxing on a lake’s bank. Only one calf is left, as you can see in the video.
An initial footage has later surfaced online, and it shows the sad moment the grizzly bear is stanching one of the two newborn calves. This happened on Friday night, and then on Sunday, the bear returned in its attempt to snatch the second calf!
