Toby is a lovely and attentive rescue dog that lives with his owner, Ruth Hamilton, in Canada. The puppy has been her constant companion since she adopted him.
Toby, on the other hand, has recently proven to be her idol as well.
Hamilton was sleeping in her bed the next night shocked she woke up to a sudden sound around 11:30 p.m. It was Toby who called and his message was urgent.
“He barks twice, as if to say, ‘Get up!’ “” Says the narrator. Dodo was informed by Hamilton. “It was a deafening bark. My family believes he was the one who made me roll.”
And it’s for the best he did.
Hamilton heard a bang just above a few moments later.
Incredibly, a sizable chunk of meteor had come crashing through Hamilton’s home at high speed, landing almost in the exact spot where she had been dozing.
“I jumped out of bed. I was totally uninjured,” Hamilton said. “Toby stopped barking, and I thought, ‘Did that really just happen?'”

Hamilton later reported the incident, and it was confirmed that the rock was indeed most likely from outer space; other witnesses in the area confirmed having seen a meteor crashing to Earth that evening.
The warning Hamilton got from Toby may have saved her life. But how did the pup know a few moments in advance?
“I was told there is sometimes a bang when meteors enter the atmosphere. He might have been responding to that,” Hamilton said. “Being a dog, his hearing is better than ours. But we’ll never know for certain.”
Toby has always been the first to call out to Hamilton when he hears animals outdoors or automobiles coming.
But it’s clear that his vigilance isn’t confined to worldly threats.
