A Wild Parrot Is Enamored With A Woman Who Has Shown Her Kindness

Carolina Medeiros’ house in Brazil recently received an unexpected guest who landed on her porch.

It was a wild parrot, and she’d soon find her way into Medeiros’ heart.

The golden-capped parakeet, a resident of the area, had seemed to settle on Medeiros’ porch to just rest her wings. Madeiros was encouraged to come outdoors when she proclaimed her arrival with a lusty squawk.

“I was completely taken aback,” Medeiros told The Dodo.

To avoid being a terrible host to that unexpected visitor, Medeiros decided to feed the bird a food.

Medeiros reached for a banana and handed it to her.

“At first, she was quite hesitant and wary, but that changed when she spotted the banana,” Medeiros explained. “It was enchanted.”

And thus started a fantastic love story.

The parrot flew away after the initial meeting to rejoin her flock in a neighboring tree. She wouldn’t be gone for long, though.

She returned the next day. Medeiros also offered her some berries this time.

“She became more self-assured,” Medeiros remarked.

The small bird returned on the third day, even going so far as to enter Medeiros’ apartment.

Medeiros stated, “I felt like I was selected.”

Tatá was the name given to her by Medeiros.

Tatá would always fly back to where her flock was after their visits. The visits, though, continued.

Tatá began taking a more aggressive approach to getting Medeiros’ attention rather than waiting for her on the porch. Medeiros began receiving wake-up calls in the early hours of the morning.

“At 6:30 a.m., she’d come to my house and knock on the window until I opened it and let her in,” Medeiros claimed.

Tatá was head over heels in love.

This happens on a daily basis. And with each visit, the duration became longer and longer. Tatá and Medeiros were seldom apart after that.

“She’d be with me for the majority of the day,” Medeiros recalled. “Then, about 6:30 p.m., she’d fly with the rest of her flock to the top of a tree near my house.”

Medeiros was smitten with Tatá as well.

It took some getting used to being awakened up every day by a bird. But it was all worth it because of the relationship Medeiros and Tatá had built.

Medeiros added, “I never dreamed a connection between a wild animal and a human being could happen in such a swift and powerful way.”

Tatá and Medeiros’ connection was notable in part because the young bird was always free to explore the world. And it appears that she did exactly that one day.

“Tatá came to see me for seven days straight before leaving with her flock,” Medeiros added. “I like being able to fly, but I always return to those I care about, just as Tatá did for me.”

It’s difficult to predict whether Tatá will return to Medeiros or whether she’s moved on with her flock to a new location for good. She is, however, always welcome to return.

“She owns the house,” Medeiros stated. “I used to make the joke that I was her pet human. I’ll always be on the lookout for her.”

Whether or whether Tatá returns, the memories she leaves behind will stay with Medeiros for a long time.

“Our connection was one-of-a-kind and wonderful,” she claimed. “Tatá was aware of my goal, as well as my affection and love. I definitely see animals in a new light now that I’ve had this experience.”
