After Being Separated By A Wildfire A Man And A Donkey Joyfully Reunite

Travis Ochs had a horrible scenario earlier this month.

As the huge CalWood wildfire engulfed Ochs’ Colorado property, he was forced to abandon practically everything he held dear, including his pet donkey, Ennis.

Ochs had made every effort to load Ennis and several horses into a trailer and transport them to safety. He was forced to flee without Ennis and one horse called Adam as the flames neared. A ranger who had hurried out to help Ochs pushed on his making that fateful decision.

“It was terrifying,” Ochs said in an interview with the Daily Camera.

Ochs may have believed he’d never see Ennis or Adam again, but he was mistaken.

Ochs got the news he’d been waiting for after a restless night worrying about Ennis and Adam.

The donkey and horse were discovered alive on his farm by firefighters. They’d worked together to get through the fire, which had damaged numerous structures on Ochs’ property.

Ochs was given permission to return, which resulted in this happy, picture-perfect reunion with Ennis:

Ennis and Adam, on the other hand, had escaped with just charred hair. Even though the Ochs lost worldly items in the fire, the most important thing is that they are alive.

“I’m just grateful we were all able to make it out alive,” Ochs remarked. “There were a few of moments when I didn’t believe it would happen.” It was a bright spot in an otherwise bleak and frightening day.”
