Bunny Is Discovered By A Wild Giraffe Who Decides To Keep Him

Friendship may be discovered in the strangest of places and in all shapes and sizes.

Ayesha Cantor, the owner of the Kragga Kamma Game Park in South Africa, was driving with her 21-year-old daughter Tammaryn when they came upon something that caused them to slam on the brakes and get out their cameras.

Cantor told The Dodo, “I planned to shoot a couple ‘giraffe in the sunset’ photos, and I saw one who kept arching his neck elegantly.” “We didn’t notice right away that the giraffe’s attention was drawn to anything on the ground.”

They followed the giraffe’s line of vision. A little black and white animal – a rabbit – was hiding in the grass.
Cantor added, “We were so startled to find a domestic rabbit just under the giraffe’s feet.” “Completely unaffected, stretched out between the giraffe’s legs.”

The giraffe was a kind of Southern giraffe native to Africa’s southern nations, such as South Africa. The rabbit, on the other hand, was a domestic animal with no business in the African jungle.

Cantor and her daughter assumed the rabbit had escaped from a rabbit hutch next door. They were surprised it hadn’t been devoured by predators already!

They anticipated the rabbit to dart away as they watched from the car windows, especially as the giraffe began to move around. The rabbit, on the other hand, stuck close to his long-limbed companion.

Cantor stated, “He exhibited no symptoms of trying to flee.” “The giraffe would stoop down and smell and nuzzle you. The rabbit would eat a little and then hop away, followed by the giraffe. The giraffe appeared to be about to paw at the rabbit with his massive hooves at times, yet he was always kind and never really struck him. It’s incredible that the rabbit exhibited no symptoms of fear.”

Cantor and her daughter spent 45 minutes watching the unusual duo. They soon departed since the light was fading and they couldn’t capture excellent photos any longer. The giraffe and rabbit, though, were still together when they left.

Cantor stated, “This is a really unique sighting.” “The fact that [the rabbit] has lived in the park is nothing short of a miracle. It wouldn’t have the same survival instincts as a wild rabbit because it was domesticated. Predators such as jackal and caracal would have made quick work of it by now. Perhaps Mr. Giraffe does a wonderful job of keeping his friend safe.”
