A Beautiful Hug Between A Gorilla And A Park Ranger

A hug is the best way to express love and thanks. And this adoring gorilla is well aware of it. She chose to spend some meaningful moments with the park ranger who had put his life on the line to protect her. The poignant event was thankfully captured on camera, and the outcome is nothing short of wonderful.

The lovely scene happened at the Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A young gorilla, named Ndazi decided to show her gratitude to her guardian angel, Andre, in the most adorable way possible. Shannon Witz – a Chicago based photographer has witnessed the moment and captured it on camera.

Shannon told CatersNews, “I was quite thrilled with the images, especially the one when Ndazi is leaning against Andre.” “Her eyes are closed, and in that moment, there is a sense of quiet and tranquillity.” [The photographs] demonstrate their real love and trust for one another. It was a magical moment, and I was lucky enough to see it.”

This isn’t the first time mountain gorillas are posing for snaps with their keepers. A year ago, some hilarious selfies of the endangered animals and the park rangers have had taken the internet by storm.

The Virunga National Park is a UNESCO world heritage site that is home to “the world’s last severely endangered mountain gorillas.” Over 600 rangers, both men and women, are “risking their lives every day to protect the park’s incredible animals!”
