Hawaii, where Yuki Nakano, a freediver and underwater photographer, resides, is renowned for having amazing marine life. She typically swims with a variety of marine creatures, but after encountering a porcupine fish and being mesmerized by its amazing smile, she made the decision to go see it every day.

Yuki frequently attempts to maintain some distance from the creatures she encounters, but it appears that this porcupine enjoys being near to people.

Yuki first encountered the amiable fish in February at a well-known snorkeling location on the island of Oahu. She then saw that the cute aquatic mammal had a right eye damage that appeared to have occurred recently.

Yuki said to The Dodo:

When I initially spotted him, I was perplexed as to why he was sticking still when he usually would have fled.

The diver decided to visit the damaged fish every day after observing its behavior, and he or she was always in the same location.

Although the fish’s vision was not that good, everything seemed to indicate that it recognized Yuki and greeted her with a friendly smile.

In the month of March, Yuki arrived at the same place as every day for his daily appointment with the fish, but it did not appear. The woman herself was very worried about the fish, because she thought that something bad had happened to it, but she kept hoping to see it again.

Added Yuki

“I had known him for days when all of a sudden he vanished. I had faith in him and awaited his return.

Unbelievably, the amiable porcupine fish resurfaced in the same spot to welcome Yuki three months after his abrupt absence.

Yuki added:

“I knew him for days, and then all of a sudden he vanished. I was hopeful and kept looking for him.

Amazingly, the amiable porcupine fish returned to see Yuki in the same spot three months after his abrupt absence.

Yuki said:

“It makes everyone happy. I like to think that it is now the most famous Hawaiian fish.”

Best of all, people love his incredibly positive attitude despite his troubles as he just keeps swimming and flashing his beautiful smile.
