After a pleasant camping trip in Australia’s Granite Gorge Nature Park with her family, Rebecca Mills and her family were in the car heading home when they realized they weren’t alone.
A snake was casually boarding their vehicle on the front bumper.
“You’ve heard of snakes on the plane … well we had snakes on the range,” Mills wrote on a video about the encounter.
While the entire family was very alarmed by their little hitchhiker, the snake seemed pretty unfazed by the whole thing, and just casually lay there, bobbing around in the wind.
The family shouted as they moved on, trying to decide what to do as the snake hung out on the moving car. While Mills’ husband David made light of the situation by joking that the snake was now his pet, their daughter was far more frightened.
Since there was nowhere to stop, Mills told ViralHog, “we were forced to drive for quite some time while we sought for a place to pull over.”
Finally, the family found a safe place they could pull over on the side of the road …
… and as soon as they came to a stop, the snake began to move toward the windshield, setting off another round of panic.
Eventually, though, Mills’ husband was able to get the snake safely off of their car and onto the side of the road, where he slithered away into the forest, safe and sound. The family was then able to get on their way again, hoping that they wouldn’t run into any more hitchhiking snakes.
