Heroes Find Hundreds Of Live Birds Stuffed In Tiny Cages

Thanks to generous undercover rescuers who just raided an Asian market where live animals are frequently sold as pets, over 500 small lives have just been rescued.

Around 550 protected Indian birds were found imprisoned within tiny metal cages on Sunday, and they were saved by West Bengal wildlife authorities.

Birds from the parakeet, Asian koel, and hill myna species, to name just a few, were confined to such small spaces. While some species are capable of surviving in captivity, they flourish in the wild, where they are actively sought after by traffickers to be captured and sold as pets.

Nearly all of the birds implicated in this case have been given to skilled vets who will be able to bring them back to health according to the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau. A few freshly hatched chicks were also discovered in the cages, but sadly, they could not survive the conditions.

West Bengal has recently been a significant centre for wildlife traffickers to capture and sell live animals. Fortunately, however, nine other suspects have already been detained by the police in connection with this case, and they will soon appear in court.

These once confined birds will continue to be free despite everything they have gone through.
