Many people might say that Sir Patrick Stewart is famous for his iconic roles in television, movies and even on stage — but dog lovers know that one of the most important parts Stewart has played is as a homeless pit bull’s foster dad in his real life.
This was back in 2017 — and Ginger has since been adopted by a loving family.
Fostering Ginger left a lingering joy in my life that I believe is here to stay. Happy to share that she has found a forever home, and in her honour, I'm raising money for Wags and Walks for #GivingTuesday. But now Stewart is at it again.
Meet Emma, our new foster girl from the beautiful folks at @WagsandWalks She’s terribly sweet, and so so good. Sensitive, intelligent, and gentle…all wrapped up in 38 pounds of pocket pittie-mix love. #fosteringsaveslives #adoptdontshop #pitbullsarelove #pitbullsarefamily pic.twitter.com/n03YbSkSvG

“Meet Emma, our new foster girl from the lovely people at Wags and Walks,” Stewart said earlier this month on Twitter. She is so good and lovely. All of these qualities are encapsulated in 38 pounds of pocket pittie-mix love: sensitive, perceptive, and compassionate.”
Emma and Stewart seem to have gotten along well in a matter of days. In recent film, they can be seen taking a nap together on the couch, and Emma can’t help but smile as she observes Stewart, who is wearing a sleep mask, snoring loudly.
Afternoon couch nap yesterday with Miss Emma. (That’s her snoring not me.) #fosteringsaveslives #adoptdontshop #pitbullsarelove #pitbullsarefamily @WagsandWalks pic.twitter.com/vvgcEArVzf

Stewart and Ginger’s friendship took on a life of its own once Stewart adopted Ginger. Because of how closely they were connected, there was talk that Stewart wouldn’t work out as a foster child.
However, due to breed-specific law (BSL), which prevented Stewart from bringing a pit bull into the UK with him, he divides his time between the UK and the US.
Even though Stewart’s life doesn’t allow for him to keep a pit bull, he’s doing something almost everyone can: giving one a place to stay while waiting for a forever home.
