You probably haven’t met Darla if you don’t believe in werewolves.
Darla can shift from a charming, scruffy dog to a frightful, wolf-like monster ready for Halloween by simply smiling – and she smiles a lot.
“She makes that face whenever she wants you to throw or give her her Lamb Chop toy,” Ashley Lamping-Conard, Darla’s mom, told The Dodo. “She’s addicted to fetching them.”
The little werewolf turns heads on the street, but there’s no reason to be afraid of her. “She’s pretty timid when she meets someone new,” Conard said. “She’s also only 5 pounds, so she’s not too intimidating.”
After Hurricane Harvey, Darla was discovered walking the streets of Texas and ended up at a shelter. Conard’s aunt, who works for a humane charity, shared a picture of the unusual dog on Facebook.
Conard remarked, “My husband and I fell in love right away… we’d never seen a dog like her.” “We contacted my aunt to schedule a meeting, and she was the loveliest little kid we’d ever met.”
Fortunately, Darla’s hysterically violent appearance does not reflect her disposition. Conard described Darla as “very playful.” “She’ll have you play fetch with her for hours if there’s a toy nearby.”
Since snatching one from her Chihuahua brother, Darla has been infatuated with Lamb Chop toys. When her parents saw how much she enjoyed the toy, they began buying her a different themed Lamb Chop for each holiday throughout the year. The small puppy now has quite the collection.
Darla’s only time away from her grin is when she seeks consolation from her parents.
Conard described her as a “big snuggler.” “When she’s not playing with her lambs, she’s looking for the coziest area to snuggle up in, which is generally right next to my face.”
While the little dog’s parents will probably dress up for Halloween this year, Darla will be going as herself.
