When A Guy Finally Takes A Photo Of His Favorite Animal Things Don’t Go As Planned

Chris Brown, a vet and photographer, had only two objectives in mind when he finally left on his dream vacation of touring Iceland in a camper van: to view the northern lights and to spot a wild arctic fox.

The Dodo quoted Brown as calling it “the most elusive of all polar creatures.”

Brown took a ton of amazing pictures of various wild creatures as he traveled the nation, but not the one he was most interested in.

Brown did tons of research on where to find wild arctic foxes and landed on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. He spent hours walking around and keeping his eyes peeled for his fluffy friends, but saw no sign of them. One evening, he decided to venture out in the dark at a time when he knew they’d be more active. He was so determined to finally get a glimpse of an arctic fox.

“I just sat there in the dark, amazingly while the northern lights started dancing above me, and knew that one would eventually be curious enough to investigate,” Brown said.

The time has finally come. Brown was ecstatic when an arctic fox sprang out of the shadows. He took out his camera to try to get a good shot of the majestic animal in all her magnificence, but the results weren’t quite what he was hoping for.

It was so dark and the fox was so quick that all Brown managed to capture was a blurry figure with glowing eyes hovering in the dark. It’s impossible to tell if the animal is even an arctic fox — but Brown will always know the truth.

The fox was quite inquisitive about Brown, his camera, and his spotlight, but she always remained a safe distance. Brown remained content despite this. He had achieved his objectives. He had saw an arctic fox under the northern lights. It was all good.

Since Brown posted the pictures online, viewers have been giggling at them. Even though these weren’t the photographs he’d intended to post, he’s kind of pleased with how they turned out.

“I think what I enjoyed the most about it was that as a vet and a photographer, everyone expects you to have this hotline to the very best wildlife encounters,” Brown said.

“And this was such a distant one! But the arctic fox might just have the sweetest blurry silhouette of any animal on the planet!”
