“It essentially brings rips to my eyes to watch him communicate with these birds.”
Eventually, GiGi, a wonderful horned owl, was given the Wild at Heart Rescue in Mississippi while she was on her last legs. The poor thing was all alone when she experienced a dangerous head injury after being struck by a car.
” The reality that this bird has lived is beyond comprehension,” Missy Dubuisson, the rescue’s owner, claimed.
She endured a massive concussion, her body had lots of parasites as well as she had a problem called aspergillosis, which resembles pneumonia in human beings. She was so sick that throughout the training course of her therapy, she shed an entire pound of weight, which is around 20-50% of her total weight.
The owl was so grateful to her savior Doug that she could not stop cuddling him when he came back from a journey.
“This was one of the most significant birds we’ve ever looked after.”
Douglas “Doug” Pojeky, popularly known as the “birds of prey whisperer,” is the only person who could have taken care of Gigi. Doug’s recovery might not have been possible if he hadn’t done so.
Keep an eye on Doug the bird whisperer as he lovingly feeds the injured GiGi:
” In all my years of collaborating with birds of prey, I have actually never seen a person with such a bond with these spectacular birds,” said the rescue’s owner
” They obviously know who he is and rely on him. It’s the trust that you can see in her eyes.”
“I have never seen someone have such a bond with these amazing birds in all my years of dealing with predators,” Dubuisson explained. GiGi had complete faith in Doug.
When Doug returned from a journey to visit his family, GiGi could not contain her excitement. She started dancing and could not stop cuddling him. “It literally brings splits to my eyes to see him communicate with these birds,” Dubuisson included. “They definitely recognize him and count on him. It’s the trust that you see in her face.”
