Miss Lou Lou Gehrig is the name of this adorable pooch. She is a bat-collecting dog for the North Carolina Minor League Baseball team Greensboro Grasshoppers, and it is obvious that she enjoys her profession.
That is, if you allow her, of course.
A hitter typically only drops their bat after they make a hit, at which point Miss Lou Lou Gehrig dashes in to grab it. She excels at what she does, which is just that.
But lately, one of her team members simply had to go and upset the balance.
This week, grasshopper Jhonny Santos opted to drop the bat at his feet after a pitch when he was in the box during a game. Miss Lou Lou Gehrig was on her way to collect the bat even though Santos just left it on the ground for a little period of time before picking it up again.
Santos had completely changed the storyline, which confused the dedicated bat-dog. Here is a video of that incident:
It’s pretty obvious who was at fault.
Now, we wouldn’t necessarily call for Santos to be suspended for pulling one over on this dutiful pup, though perhaps a sizable fine (paid in dog treats) would be appropriate.
In short, while it may have looked like Miss Lou Lou Gehrig was trying to steal the bat, she was only doing her job. But there’s no doubt that she did actually steal everyone’s hearts.
