Nuka is a black German shepherd who lives in a house full of small animals such as kittens, rats, and rabbits. That’s the reason why he is obsessed with other animals, especially baby animals. Although he looks so big and strong, he has always been a gentle and sweet dog.
Therefore, little animals are never scared of their big and perfect brother.
“Our vet said he was smart beyond his years when he was younger… since he’s normally so tranquil and relaxed,” Nuka’s mother, Nicole Yates, told The Dodo.
Due to the global spread of COVID-19, a local pet business had to close down in April. They sought to find emergency homes for their unfortunate animals before closing the business. Yates decided to bring a rat into her busy house and call him Blue in order to help the store and the animals.
Blue was overjoyed to have found a new home and a wonderful brother. He is so devoted to Nuka that he follows him around everywhere he goes. He also enjoys napping on Nuka’s thick fur since it provides the perfect area for a relaxing slumber.
“There was this immediate clear connection between Blue and Nuka compared with my other rats,” Yates said. “It was more so Blue who seemed to adore Nuka! He loved snuggling into Nuka’s fur and if I put him down on the floor he would run to find Nuka.”
Nuka will not move if he notices Blue is sleeping to avoid waking up his younger sibling. The dog is delighted to do so since all he wants for his pals and brothers is for them to be happy and healthy.
“Blue is a pretty docile rat,” Yates explained, “so he’s really comfortable just being with Nuka and resting there with him, either tucked into his mane or at his belly.” “Nuka enjoys bathing Blue in licks, and Blue doesn’t seem to mind.”
