Rescued Baby Lion Can’t Sleep Without Favorite Blanket Even Though He’s Now Fully Grown

All wild animals should roam freely in the wild and not to be kept captive in tiny enclosures. But unfortunately we’re far from this scenario as countless animals are forced to live a miserable life, far away from their natural habitats.

Fortunately many of these animals are being rescued just in time, thanks to some kind, caring animal lovers. One of these kind-hearted people is Vicky Keahey – founder of the
In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center.

And one of the countless animals Vicky and her devoted team rescued along the years is Lambert, a lovely majestic lion.

In 2014, when his rescuers discovered him, Lambert was in a dreadful state. Because of malnutrition, the poor little soul was weaker than he should have been—more like a puppy than a lion. An evil guy who had illegally purchased the lion cub kept him as a pet until deciding he no longer wanted the wild beast.

The previous owners bought him illegally to keep as a pet for their young children, according to Angela Culver, the In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue’s media director, who spoke to Bored Panda. After a short while, the family realized they could no longer care for him, so we were asked if we would want to take him. Of course, we were thrilled to.

Lambert was perplexed and terrified when he first arrived at the rescue facility, but he quickly won everyone over with his routine. The lion cub apparently found solace in a blanket that he was unable to sleep without it. Vicky told The Dodo, “We had heard from the previous owners that he slept in the bed with the granddad.”

I then walked inside the enclosure and placed the blanket in one of the corners after getting him a blanket. He immediately fell asleep after curling up on that blanket. I’ve given him a blanket every time after then.

“He has 7,000 sq. ft. worth of space to run around in, which includes a covered den area for shade and protection from the weather and a sunny, grassy playground with the pool he loves to play in,” Angela Culver said.

“He is just like any other 2 year-old lion in that he is active and playful, and is full of cattitude. You know where you stand with him.”
