It’s recommended to study a map or ask for instructions when lost in a busy train station. Finding your way home isn’t that straightforward, though, if you’re a little wild animal.

A recent sighting of an echidna meandering along the platform as if she were on her evening journey confused passengers in Adelaide, Australia.

Railway workers safely contained the little echidna and brought her to the Adelaide Koala & Wildlife Centre.

“Their quick actions saved her from being injured on the rail tracks,” Annie Carmichael, clinic coordinator at the center, told The Dodo.

The echidna was captured on a video, which you can watch here:

Clinic staff named the echidna Snoot and gave her a veterinary exam to ensure she was healthy and unharmed. After a thorough check, they concluded that Snoot was just fine.

With their prickly quill-covered coats, echidnas, sometimes known as spiny anteaters, are easily identifiable as natives of Australia. Even though echidnas are plentiful in the Australian outback, it’s unlikely that you’ll see one when you’re standing in line for the train.

Echidnas, like most wildlife, tend to avoid humans. Wildlife center staff were pleased to see that Snoot was eager to get back to the world beyond the center walls.

“Snoot was extremely lively and determined to escape and explore further, which was a great sign for us that she was well and unharmed,” Carmichael said.

After being given the all-clear by a veterinarian, Snoot was let go in a secure area of the forest, where she eagerly jumped into a burrow.

Even though Snoot’s journey had a rather risky beginning, she was nevertheless able to reach her destination because to the generosity of many generous animal lovers.
